The Flagrant Ones

I was called upon by prominent podcasters Hayes Davenport, Sean Clements, and Carl Tart of the Earwolf network to produce a Patreon-exclusive basketball podcast. In addition to helping produce the podcast, I did much of the work promoting the show on social media, and did all of the audio engineering, mixing, and mastering.

You can whet your whistle with a few free episodes if you’d like to check it out.

After almost 3 years, the podcast has amassed over 6,500 followers and $41,000 in revenue per month, making it in the top 30 most successful Patreon podcasts ever. We were also named the “Most Valuable Patreon” in Vulture’s 2019 comedy podcast roundup.

Lyric Videos

In lieu of a real theme song, the guys decided to do a basketball-themed parody song to open the show each week. Sometimes improvised, sometimes 4-minute meticulously written opuses—the parodies have become a fan favorite.

To help fans easily revisit their favorite songs, and to help promote the show by isolating some of its best moments, I decided to create lyric videos so everyone could sing along. Did I let the fact that I had absolutely no experience making videos stop me? If you think yes… well I have news for you friend.

Livestreams

The guys got the idea to create a new tier that included two livestreams a month for the superfans. All of which have been organized and filmed by me.

Did I let the fact that I had absolutely no streaming experience stop me? If you answered yes again… listen I appreciate you engaging with the site but I am something of a go-getter and I would not let a setback like that prevent me from doing a show for the fans.

Soundboard

The show quickly amassed a number of catchphrases, and both the hosts and fans expressed a desire to add sound drops into the mix. I used the coding skills I had developed making Werewolf House to create a handy site, complete with a pitch lowering tool for an extra flagrant drop.
